Theatre Opportunity from Arts Alive

The Arts Alive Association is pleased to announce the formation of a new theatre opportunity for students in the greater Madison County area: Live Wire theatre group for students age 13-21. The larger group will be subdivided into two age groups 13-16 and 17-21 with some overlap for performances and special events, activities, etc.
Live Wire will host an informational meeting for students and parents on August 26, location TBA soon. Live Wire activities will include weekly acting lesson and improv time, student led production with students deciding on type of production, student directed productions, field trips to plays, and special events.
The goal of Live Wire is to allow students to form a theatrical experience of their own making, with thoughtful input and direction from adult mentors. This will not be a performance based only program. Students will use theatre experiences and activities to develop their creative energy and skills, not just to perform onstage. There will be a weekly skills lesson, followed by open improv time and group work.
Live Wire will not be just directed to homeschool students, but to encourage students to develop good mentored relationships outside their homeschool circle of friends, so they can invite their friends from church, from neighborhood, from private schools, and just whereever they have friends.
Live Wire group will be led by Betty Malone, with assistance from other Live Wire parents. We will also be developing a series of paid teachers to provide training in certain skills, so if you have a skill you think would be suitable for our program, please contact us at artsaliveinfo[at]yahoo.com. Definite skills we are looking for at this time include ballroom dancing, jazz dancing, mime, comedy improv, music,(of several kinds)
Live Wire is a program of Arts Alive, a new not for profit working to involve our greater community in affordable theatre and cultural arts experiences through classes, workshops, trips, and special activities. We are inviting interested participants to contact us for membership information at this time to build a strong support structure for Arts Alive that will sustain it as a not-for-profit.
